Forget the Poses: Why Lifestyle Photography is the Best Choice for Your Myrtle Beach Family Photos
Myrtle Beach has been an incredible home to me and a wonderful vacation spot for all my out-of-town visitors. The incredible coastline, golden sunrises, and colorful sunsets are serene. Today, I am striving to be the best Myrtle Beach family photographer specializing in lifestyle photography. Over the last few years, I have stopped trying to pose my own kids and have focused on just catching authentic, candid moments. This style keeps me more present with my surroundings, and I find myself constantly smiling as I go through sessions.
What Is Lifestyle Photography?
Lifestyle photography, by definition, is a genre of photography that captures portraits of people in situations, real-life events, or milestones in an artistic manner. Unlike traditional posed portraits—think Sears or JC Penny Studio—this style focuses on interactions and genuine emotions. As much as I love an old awkward family photo, catching authentic smiles during a game of tag or a new mother feeding her little one has a deeper connection.
In Myrtle Beach and Murrell's Inlet, this often means shooting at outdoor locations along the inlet, sandy beaches with gorgeous sunsets, and serene parks—tailored to your family’s vibe.
Types of Photos I Capture
Using prompts, I ask you to do some silly things. Most of the silliness is to get the kids laughing and having fun. I want your kids to be excited to come back year after year because we had fun. Some of my favorites include:
Playful Interactions: Kids being kids—splashing in the waves, writing their names in the sand chasing bubbles and building sandcastles.
Sweet Moments: Parents cuddling their little ones or siblings holding hands.
Genuine Laughter: Tickles, jokes, rock-paper-scissors, a good old-fashioned foot race, and lame dad jokes.
Everyday Adventures: Exploring nature trails, watching the sun melt into the water, climbing an awesome octopus tree, or enjoying ice cream by the playground at Huntington Beach State Park.
My Approach To Family Sessions
I keep every session relaxed and casual. As a mom, I know parents understand their kids better than anyone else. I won’t ask your son to climb a tree unless that’s something he loves to do—if it is, I’m there to capture him just being himself. If your daughter is a princess in the making, I’ll show her how to walk like Cinderella and add a twirl for some extra flair. Every family has its own unique dynamic, and my goal is to make your session feel effortless. Without the traditional stiff poses, you might feel unsure about how the session went. You’re not crossing off poses like you did at your wedding. Instead, you’re having fun and letting time fly. I promise your gallery will be filled with sweet moments and lasting memories.
Let’s Capture YOUR Family’s Story
Whether you’re visiting Myrtle Beach or call it home like me, I want to capture your memories an the easy relaxed session. Lifestyle family photography celebrates your story and preserves it for generations. Look back on your pictures in 10 years and remise about that time we all went to River Walk in Conway and your son climbed the biggest tree in the middle of the park or your daughters skipped along the river that was lined with beautiful Spanish moss.
