Chaos with Ashley and the Boys: A Fun-Filled Family Photo Session at Huntington Beach State Park

Family photos can be a challenge, but when you’ve got four energetic boys, it becomes an adventure! I had the pleasure of capturing Ashley and Jason’s family at Huntington Beach State Park in Murrells Inlet, and while the boys weren’t exactly thrilled about the idea of posing for pictures, they sure brought the fun!

From the moment we started, the boys were far more interested in tossing around the football than standing still for photos. They were full of energy, laughing, running, and being their silly selves—making it clear that traditional family portraits weren’t going to be in the cards without a little creativity and bribery. But as any parent knows, a bit of negotiation goes a long way when you’re working with kids!

The real magic happened when mom pulled the boys aside, one by one, for a little heart-to-heart chat. That quiet moment of connection allowed me to capture some truly sweet, candid shots of the boys with their mom. These moments showed the love and bond that sometimes gets lost in the hustle and bustle of trying to get the "perfect" shot.

One of the funniest moments was when the oldest son decided we needed to play rock-paper-scissors as a “challenge” to earn a sweet photo with his mom. Of course, we all jumped in, and the playful energy made for some of the best images of the day!

While the boys may not have been thrilled to pose, they definitely kept things interesting, and I loved capturing their natural personalities and energy at this beautiful park. The stunning backdrop of Huntington Beach State Park with its natural beauty made the perfect setting for this unforgettable family session.

As a local Myrtle Beach photographer, I love creating sessions that capture not just the traditional poses, but the fun and real moments that make your family unique. So if you’ve got energetic kids (and maybe a football or two), let’s plan your session.
